Chatham WOD Meet Photos

This is the scene one sees when entering Pat Rivard's O scale layout.
Just a few more views of the weekend WOD Chatham, Ontario meet. It was a wonderful time for those that attended. Some really nice models to see and great layouts to view. It was nice to catch up with some of the guys I have not seen in awhile...George Dutka

At the hall we had a meeting room for our presentations, raffles and meeting. We also used the gym which was setup for us with a long table that held all 21 of us for lunch. Everyone brought a sandwich but the WOD supplied coffee, water, pop, individual chip bags and donuts...which was a meal on it's own if you did not bring a sandwich. If you looked closely I think you could find some Halloween candy and baked treats too.

That's Nick from ITLA checking out Pat Rivard's O scale layout. Pat has his back to us. The trains look impressive at this height.

Gary Shurgold's ITLA tower. Gary took the model a bit further by adding concrete corner trim to the brick building. The roofline has been changed a bit too.

This structure appears to be running out of time on Pat Rivard's O scale layout. It is not easy to build a structure to look like this.

A bit of a peak at Pat's work bench. the ends of the shelving are great locations to clip on clamps and things.

Christmas is Coming!

The Waterloo Central Railway is ready for the holiday season with this nicely decorated caboose. Now that Halloween and the fall events have passed I may have to make a trip back to St. Jacobs to get into the festive spirit and to see the caboose in action...George Dutka

WOD - NMRA Chatham Meet-up

Casey Casier's double deck layout. Each deck runs separately of the other as they do not connect. One deck has a triple main line. Oh there is over 130 Campbell kits on this layout that Casey built.
Yesterday the Western Ontario Division of the NFR-NMRA gathered for the first meet of the season in Chatham. The turnout was very good with about 23 members and guests attending the four layouts opened up and our lunch gathering with a good amount of models on display. Many brought something along to display. We had three tables full of models.

Of the four layouts two are MMR's which was a bonus. I was really impressed with Casey Casier's layout which displayed all 130 Campbells structure and bridge kits on his double deck layout. I believe he mentioned having 170 Campbell kits on the layout or on display around the room. As you can see in the photos he has more engines and rolling stock than most hobby shops.

Grant Miles who once was a Chatham Club member back in the 1960's also attend. Nick from ITLA was also in attendance with a display and laser cut outhouse handouts to the group. A really good meet for those that attended with many very talented modelers in the group.

I will post a few more photos through the week from this day as time permits...George Dutka

Gary Pembleton and Don Janes get caught up as their lives had not connected lately. MMR Gary Shurgold's awards can be seen behind them.

Grant Miles a past Chatham club member is now a member here in London of our model railway group.

Wayne Wessner's O scale narrow gauge modeling.

Don Janes brought along a few of his models from his layout.

Nick of ITLA brought along some give aways that he just printed up the night before.

We gathered for lunch below and here in the meeting room for door prizes and a couple of mini clinics of a few models brought along.

Ken Hutnik brought along two of his layouts which each fit inside a candle container for storage. As you can see Ken is a micro modeler. One of his layouts was featured in RMC a year ago.

There was lots of models to view.

On a display shelf at Caseu Casier's another Campbells kit has been modeled a bit different then that of the instructions.

White River Division - Views

This is how the area around Wells looks like at the moment.
A few views I took sometime ago of the layout for the WOD-NMRA news...George Dutka

The Sylvan CNR-CV style section shed rests were the coal storage structure in the background once was. This area was changed around a bit a few years back and I think looks a lot better. The spur to the mill and creamery is just behind the coal dealer.

The general store is hiding behind a tree at Bellows Crossing. This area is getting a change and the general store might have to be moved.

Woodstock Model Railroad Club

The Woodstock club models the area around town so of course they had to build a model of the CN-VIA station. One of the members had measured the structure which was used to build the model. Years later they found out that CN plans of the station can be found on-line. I thought they have done a great job emulating the station.
A couple of Sunday ago I visited the Woodstock which is located in a separate building at the fair ground were the train show was held. This is the first time visiting the layout since it was moved here almost 5 years ago. Next to the main layout there is a N scale layout, switching layout and an On30" shelf layout. It was nice to visit with some of the members that I have known for years. Larry Brinker gave me the grand tour and update on the club...George Dutka

This mill is scratch-built but many of the structures are craftsman kits.

The club was easy to find with a number of signs out and about.
