Welcome, follow along with George Dutka in his journal which documents the additions and future thoughts for the HO scale White River Division model railroad and to his continuing historical New England railroad research. The White River Division is now in its 17th modeler's season. The "modeler's season" runs from November to April each year. Inspiration comes from the Boston and Maine, Rutland and Central Vermont Railway during the 1950's with additional posts by Don Janes and Peter Mumby.

B&M - Pulpwood Car?
B&M 29084 no other data from my files. I don't recall were I got the photo from but maybe this car is pulpwood loading? I do recall seeing a Hastings photo with a similar car used by a B&M work gang carrying ties...George Dutka
Hi George, Did a little research on the car number. BM Hist. Soc. lists BM 29000-29099 as "pulpwood rack cars." Also found a website: "The Boston and Maine Railroad" maintained by Earl Tuson showing same # series as pulpwood cars. Very interesting photo of a unique car ! BTW, great job on the 2 RMC articles; fading & the Polka Dot. Cheers, KLS

ReplyDeleteI'd guess that's a coke car. Had it been a pulpwood car the sides would be'far more battered. But a neat car.
