Car A is seen in for repairs following its derailment in Bellows Falls, Vt. Thanks Ken Borg for sending me the photo and the notes. |
Welcome, follow along with George Dutka in his journal which documents the additions and future thoughts for the HO scale White River Division model railroad and to his continuing historical New England railroad research. The White River Division is now in its 17th modeler's season. The "modeler's season" runs from November to April each year. Inspiration comes from the Boston and Maine, Rutland and Central Vermont Railway during the 1950's with additional posts by Don Janes and Peter Mumby.

Was it light enough to be derailed by ice? Or was it more of a fowled turnout by ice? Inquiring minds want to know.
ReplyDeleteNot sure Jeff...will let you know when I find out more about the accident...George
ReplyDeleteThe derailment occurred at Walpole, New Hampshire, on the Cheshire Branch, about four miles south of Bellows Falls. The 6ooo was running as train no. 5506, the Cheshire (White River Jct to Boston via Bellows Falls). I believe it ran into the end of the Walpole freight house, not a section house.
ReplyDeleteHi Jim thanks, I just received correct information on the wreck since the post this morning. I had not realized the train set had derailed at all till yesterday. Will do another post with some better and correct details...George
