NH South Boston Yard

While scanning Peter's slides I did a number of mine. This view does not have much information other than it says NH South Boston yard, 1969. I don't recall where I got this one from but it maybe from the George Melvin slides I purchase a number of years ago...George Dutka

  1. Fabulous time capsule. I wonder what this area looks like now?

  2. I thought 1989 was a bit off too.

  4. Hi George, I enjoy your blog and photos like this one being a native Yankee. Those FGE insulated boxcars- they weren't just for foodstuffs. Stanley Home Products in Easthampton, MA used them to ship their cleaning products. The NH Canal Line local would go by my house with several in tow daily. Another item- I just read written in a model magazine that New England didn't get N&W and other southern region coal cars due to it being cheaper to ship from closer (PRR etc.). I guess there are exceptions to every rule.
