Throwback Thursday - Previously Owned

CPAA 209004 was photographed in the CN yard at London, Ontario on March 01, 1994.  Note the brighter blue paint marks on the ribs to the right of the door where the original wheel-operated door-opening mechanism had been located.
By Peter Mumby.

CP introduced its CPAA reporting mark in 1967.  Its purpose was to designate a U.S.-built car that could be loaded Stateside in international service.  CPAA 209004, of series 209000-209033, was assembled in 1978 at the height of the IPD (Incentive Per Diem) boxcar-building craze of the late 1970s.  Its patched paint covered the NSL reporting mark, 101200-101324 series car number, and St Lawrence Railroad billboard lettering of its original owner.  209004 and its mates were in service on CP from 01/85 until 07/06.
