Throwback Thursday - Trackside at St. Johnsbury

On July 15, 1986 CP 1802 is preparing to do its interchange work with the LVRC at St. Johnsbury, Vermont.
By Peter Mumby.

The date is July 15, 1986 and the local CP freight has arrived at St. Johnsbury, Vermont with its LVRC traffic.  Tonight's interchange partner will be LVRC RS 3 number 7804.

Prominent in the background of today's photo is the Elmore T. and Horace K. Ide feed mill.  Established in 1813, at the time of our photo this was the oldest such company in the U.S.

CP RS-18u 1802, class DRS-18, belonged to the 1800-1805 group of MLW RS-18 units that were re-manufactured in 1980.  Group members 1800-1804 were assigned to CP's U.S. lines, so 1802 would have been a regular visitor to St. Johnsbury.
