Fish Belly Side Sill Boom Car

National Scale Car has a fish belly side sill mini kit that can be used on a Tichy boom car to come up with a copy of the New England GT prototype. Also it appears CN along with other roads had this type of car also. The mini kit that is offered for $8.00US includes resin side sills with rivet detail, styrene sheet & strip along with supplementary instructions to convert one Tichy Boom Car. Link below.

Roads that had fish belly side sills that Ryan Mendell of NSC has located are Grand Trunk, Canadian National, Canadian Pacific, Southern Pacific, New York Central and Pennsylvania.

I picked up a Tichy boom car at Springfield this year and my side sills arrived last week. My model will be the GT boom as Ryan modeled. There is a prototype part picture of this car in the GT Morning Sun book.

Yesterday I got started on the Tichy kit. The side sills are applied near the beginning of the project. The casting needed minimal clean up. I did have to trim a bit off the ends to get them to fit in-between the ends that are installed first.
