Tucker's Hobbies is now gone

Tucker's Hobbies was a regular stop when I visited the Palmer area. Years ago this was a great place to pick up that New England model that one might not be able to find at home and of course to visit with Bob. Since Bob Buck's passing in 2011 the possibility of change was becoming a certainty. This shop has been at this location since 1981. Don Janes photo.
I was surprised to see a new hobby shop in Palmer, Ma. when I visited this past weekend. When you come off the Mass Turnpike and arrive in town at Main St. you are looking right at it...Palmer Hobbies. Don and I did go in and found out that Tucker's Hobbies in Warren, Ma. had closed in mid May after being open since 1981. The new owners have a lot of the stock which is being moved to this new location. Palmer Hobbies is located at 1428 Main St. Palmer, Ma and has a web site as seen below. The store is currently open only when the staff is there stocking the shelves. They hope to be open regular hours shortly....George Dutka

The original Tucker's which was taken over by Bob Buck when his grandfather passed. I believe Bob was about 15 at the time he took over in 1945. At some point it became a joint hobby shop and hardware store.
