This and That - October 2025

Toronto, Ont.

A bit of what I have which is a mix of topics. The Toronto photos are from the Old Ontario Facebook sites. I finally got around to cleaning the tracks on the layout and giving everything a good vacuuming. I have a few visitors coming this month and nothing has been running in a very long time. Actually the layout was full of engines and maybe 40 extra pieces of rolling stock from what I acquired from my late friend Peter Mumby.  All this was on the main line, and while the layout is small there was no room to run anything. My sister stopped by since the layout got cleaned up a bit and took a photo of me by the WRD. I also included some local railfanning that I have done this fall mainly on my way to and from visits and chores...George Dutka

An old Toronto, Ontario street car being used as a house in 1922, Haileybury, Ont. We think things are tough today.

My sister was over for dinner last week and took this photo of me in the layout room. Kathy Tull photo.

Not much has been done since August on my MEC yard tower and office from Monster Model Works. It is getting pretty close to being done at that time but family commitments and getting my sailboat to bed for the season is taking a lot of my time. Being over 70 years old now is slowing the process down.

Mike Evans CV Steam Shack / F&C kit on display at a RPM meet in the Washington, DC area this fall. He has done a wonderful job on this caboose. Mike can you contact me as I would love to use it in the CVRHS Ambassador. I don't have your e-mail address. Photo by Bill Schultheiss. Bill has a very nice Facebook page about his layout called the BM and Rutland in Bellows Falls.

My new Rapido that I purchased this summer.

Caught this old hopper in a group of CPKC cars in London Quebec yard. Might be a neat paint job for one to model. Note the R is new paint and so is the last few digits of the car number. Oct. 9 2025.

I took this photo this week as CPKC WB doubles into the Quebec St. yard in London, Ont. The engines are about to cross the new underpass built over Adelaide St. A year or so ago the traffic would have been blocks. Oct. 9 2025.

Sept 16, 2025 at the top end of CN London yard the local switcher works away with a BNSF unit in the consist. All the 4700's are looking pretty worn these days.

I found this small flag stop station interesting. Soperton Station LTI Archives 2010-050.
