Salt Weathering

Salt cars in the yard at Goderich, Ontario. Some really nice streaking has occurred on these cars.
If you have been near a salt mine or an unloading area of covered hoppers loaded with salt one will get a good look at how to weather these type of cars. This group of photos if a portion of the fleet that arrive and depart the salt mine in Goderich, Ontario on the GEXR. I have shown you the most rusty of the fleet...happy weathering...George Dutka

This is one of the more rusty hoppers. Many are still pretty clean looking. The plastic hatches really stand out.

A string of salt cars in Goderich upper yard.
An overhead view of a few rusty salt cars. Note the domes are clean.

One of the salt cars headed to Goderich on a WB GEXR train that Peter and I chased back in July. This photo is taken in Holmesville.
