Throwback Thursday - The Van Alley

Looking good in their fresh yellow paint, three wooden transfer cabooses rest in the van alley at CP's John St. yard in downtown Toronto on May 18, 1985.
By Peter Mumby.
There was a time not that long ago when every self-respecting yard had its van alley (or, caboose track, if you prefer).  Pictured here is a group of transfer vans in CP's John Street yard in downtown Toronto.  Prominent in the photo are cars 436994 and 437133, built in the 1941 - 1944 era.  All three vans have been modernized with the removal of roof walks and end ladders and the application of a coat of Action Yellow paint.
