Looking good in their fresh yellow paint, three wooden transfer cabooses rest in the van alley at CP's John St. yard in downtown Toronto on May 18, 1985. |
There
was a time not that long ago when every self-respecting yard had its
van alley (or, caboose track, if you prefer). Pictured here is a group
of transfer vans in CP's John Street yard in downtown Toronto.
Prominent in the photo are cars 436994 and 437133, built in the 1941 -
1944 era. All three vans have been modernized with the removal of roof
walks and end ladders and the application of a coat of Action Yellow
paint.
