INCO 112 pauses as preparations are made to get the dumping process under way on August 19, 1991. |
By Peter Mumby.
Here
are two more photos that date back to my visit to the INCO Railway
facilities in the Copper Cliff area (Sudbury) on August 19, 1991. INCO
112 ( GE 100 ton electric, built 5/1938) has shoved a group of slag pots
full of molten waste material to the top of the dump. The heat from
the slag rushes into the cab, and is even more apparent from ground
level near the rear of the short train.
The operator dumps one car at a time and the molten slag pours down the dump wall. Can you feel the heat? |
