South Simcoe Railway

The train was due to leave but passengers were still boarding for the 1430 run to Beeton.
I had not been to the South Simcoe Railway in over 20 years, so I planned a visit following the Kitchener train show and visiting with my friend Paul. Unfortunatley the steam engine has not been running this year...on my last visit the engine handled the train. The coaches looked to be in great shape but the equipment on display on site that was available to see is looking quite worn. There is a lot of the site that is roped off so I really could not see the whole collection.

It was a busy day with the train sold out for the 230pm run. I had arrived shortly before it left but decided to not chase it as is it was raining on and off. It was a funny day I had rain, sun and heavy overcast skies at times...if I come back again it will be to see steam running...George Dutka

There was a good crowd looking around prior to boarding the train. Oct 6, 2024.

The power for the day.

A light drizzle was happening as I left and took this photo.
