Ballasting

Having some fun during a ballasting project!

I set up this shot the other day while building test modules for ballasting...that's blended ballast from Scenic Express. Happy Thanksgiving...George Dutka

  1. I tried that stuff but it was too "sparkley" (for lack of a better term) so I chose something else. Maybe once secured with matte medium it would be less shiny, but I couldn't take it.

    1. I did not find any shine to it once my mix of white glue and water was applied. Your right it might be a bit bright when once applied but tones down a lot once glued in place. I find this with other ballasts too. George

    2. Maybe, but whatever color blend I got had a lot of what looked like ground quartz mixed in. It was super shiny, and my glue solution didn't help. However, it could be whatever batch you got also came from a different batch of rocks too.

  2. What sort of ballast are you using?

  3. Hi Ben I will take a close up photo of the track ballasted and post when I get a chance. Yes the ballast could vary from batch to batch such as paint...George
